With the emergence of Global economy and Information Technology, the management paradigm has changed. Industrial economy is slowly being transformed into knowledge and information based economy. The orthodox management patterns no longer meet the challenges and demands of the present day world. The technology is progressing at a dizzying rate and its effects and penetration into the management realm has been overwhelming. The responsibilities of the present day managers and the knowledge they should possess is far more demanding than it was in the last few decades. The role of information has been felt deeply and so is the concern for its management. In this context, weather it be the information technology professional or the managers, they should possess the knowledge of both disciplines - Management and Information Technology.

The Kantipur College of Management and Information Technology (KCMIT) was set up in Kathmandu in 2000 under Tribhuvan University's new direction to enter into collaboration with the private education sector to provide the most advanced education to the Nepalese students. Presently, KCMIT runs the Bachelor in Information Management (BIM) and Bachelor in Business Administration (BBA) programs in affiliation with Tribhuvan University. Our honor and pride not only lies in being the first college in Nepal to introduce the BIM program, but also for our earnest endeavor to develop and train IT professionals with management skills to meet the challenges of the present and future.

Technology has challenged the traditional practices of doing business. So, any individual, organization cannot isolate technologies with the modern business practices. So, this generation needs to be alert with the technological changes and the changes happening in this local, regional and global business arena.

KCMIT provides the foundation for rewarding careers in the business administration and information management fields in response to local, regional and global demands. KC-MIT has been established by a group of management educationalists and IT professionals with wide and long years of experience in the field of teaching and education management. 

KCMIT is committed to prepare Nepalese youth to lead professional careers in Nepal and abroad. The college is also committed to provide sound conceptual base and practical exposure of the IT service industry in Nepal and SAARC region with the goal of enhancing students’ knowledge and skill base to better benefit in the rapidly growing global IT job market.
